Citrus ‘FairchildLS’ Mandarin Orange Tree (Citrus reticulata Blanco)

Citrus ‘FairchildLS’ Mandarin Orange Tree (Citrus reticulata Blanco)

Developed at UC Riverside, home of the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection, ‘FairchildLS’ is a low seeded Mandarin Orange Tree variety compared to ‘Fairchild’ with only about 2-3 seeds per fruit. The medium-to-large, sweet, flavorful fruit is 2.5” in diameter with a smooth, easy peel rind. The juicy fruit matures in winter and holds on the tree through late March. Fruiting usually begins the third year after planting. It tends to be a heavy bearing variety that’s well suited for in-ground or container growing. As the tree gets older, it may start alternate bearing if there has been a heavy crop the year before. This is a grafted plant that blooms and fruits sooner.
